The Major Causes Of Pelvic Pain

There can be several causes when it comes to pelvic pain, some can be life threatening and some are just normal or a sign of a treatable medical condition. We as women should know what is going on with our bodies. I love WebMD it is my number one resource when it comes to finding good informative content about women's health and more. Pain below the belly button is called pelvic pain.

What is the cause of my pelvic pain?

This sexually transmitted infection can cause serious damage to the uterus, fallopian tube and ovaries. In fact, it is the leading cause of preventable cause of infertility in woman and it is Pelvic inflammatory disease. The symptoms are abdominal pain, pain during urination and sex, abnormal vaginal discharge. It is treatable with antibiotic or surgery.

Ectopic pregnancy can contribute to pain too! This type of condition is when the embryo implant begins growing somewhere outside of the uterus, usually the fallopian tube. Immediate medical attention is needed; the symptoms are nausea, sharp pelvic pain or cramps usually on one side, vaginal bleeding and dizziness.

Menstrual cramps are also a factor, every month the uterus builds up a lining of tissue called endometrium, where the embryo can implant and grow. When you do not get pregnant, the lining breaks down and turns into menstrual periods, the cramps occur when the uterus contracts and pushes out the blood.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic disorder that causes recurring belly pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating and cramps. Doctors have not discovered the cause yet. There are strategies to treat it such as stress management, diet changes, and medications to relieve diarrhea and constipation.

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is known for producing mood changes and food cravings. It also can set off abdominal cramps, headaches, tender breast, lower back pain and acne. Vitamin deficiencies and poor diet can make the symptoms worse. You should go see a doctor if symptoms interfere with your daily life.

There is so much to know, it is very important for us to have some type of knowledge in health. If you know just a little, it can help you figure out what is going on with your body or at least have a clue about certain medical conditions. Here are just a few more that might be the reason of lower abdominal pain.

Ovarian cysts can cause frequent urination, weight gain and pelvic pain. uterine fibroids are on the list as well; they grow on the wall of the uterus and are sometimes called fibroid tumors. You can relax if you have them because they are not cancerous; it is more common in women in their 30's and 40's and usually does not become a problem. A Holistic approach can provide you with great relief from these tumors it‘s is a alternative and effective method of treatment. They can be shrunk or removed by your doctor.

Kidney stones are on the team they are globes of salt and minerals that deposits in the urine. They can be as tiny as a grand of sand or the size of a golf ball. As the move from the kidney to the bladder, they can trigger excruciating pain in the belly and pelvic area, and turn the urine pink or red.

I have never heard of this one before! This condition is more common in women in their 30's and 40's. It may cause pain in the stomach, painful urination, pain during sex and cause you to urinate several times in one hour. Interstitial cystitis is a chronic condition related to inflammation of the bladder. There is no cause as of yet, but there are ways of relieving the symptoms. STD's such as Chlamydia and gonorrhea also plays a factor to this type of pain as well. If you are having symptoms including bleeding between periods, pain during urination and abnormal vagina discharge, go to your doctor right away. Ignoring these signs could lead to serious complications.

Pelvic organ prolapse is a condition when your uterus or bladder drops in a lower position. It is not as serious as it seems, the signs are pressure against the vagina wall, feeling full in your lower belly, discomfort in the groin or lower back and painful intercourse. Depending on your situation, treatment can range from special exercises to surgery.

Pelvic congestion syndrome is when blood backs up into the pelvic veins; it is similar to varicose veins like in your legs or thighs. This happens when the veins become swollen and painful, it can become worse when you sit or stand. There are minimally invasive procedures to get relief.

Scar tissue is associated with a surgery such as appendectomy or C-section you can have ongoing pain. Adhesions are a type of internal scar tissue that forms between the organs and structures that are not meant to be there. Abdominal adhesions can cause pain and other problems they must be surgically removed.

Finally, the last cause is Endometriosis a health condition where tissue grows outside the uterus. Growths may form on the fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, intestines and other parts of the body. When it is time for your period, the clumps break down but have nowhere to go, it can become dangerous and produce scare tissue, which makes it hard to get pregnant. There are treatments but there is no cure.
